About Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar is one of Hawai’i’s most critically acclaimed and wildly popular restaurants serving new wave sushi and contemporary Japanese-based specialties. Sansei’s sushi chefs are known for their imaginative creations and innovative specials. The first Sansei opened in 1996 at the Kapalua Resort in Maui with additional locations in Honolulu, Kīhei, Waikoloa, and Hawai’i Island. Sansei Seattle opened in February as the first mainland location serving a similar menu found in Hawai’i Sansei’s and ensuring the same quality service. Founder Dave “D.K.” Kodama felt the Japanese word “Sansei,” meaning “third generation,” was a fitting name for the restaurant because it is inspired by Japanese tradition while serving contemporary interpretations of sushi and Asian Cuisine. It also is a reference to Kodama’s background as a third generation Japanese American.
