Treeswing is a Seattle based nonprofit organization known for bringing innovative, evidence-based programs to schools serving low-income and at-risk youth to encourage the development of lifelong healthy habits. Treeswing’s focus is to combat childhood obesity with an ultimate goal of changing norms so that the healthy choice is the easy choice.
According to the organization, nearly half of all school districts in the country have shifted large chunks of time to improve student test scores. PE and recess have been particularly hit hard. Only a third of students are receiving the recommended amount of weekly physical activity. To learn more about Treeswing, visit: www.treeswing.org.
