Japan’s New Invention: Soft Serve Beer?!

By Jenni Liu

Ever wish your beer would stay cold longer? Now it can! — Japanese brewing company, Kirin, has a new innovation — frozen beer foam! Made only of beer — without any added ice or water — this frozen head poured on top of beer like a soft-serve ice cream acts as insulation that will keep beer cold for at least 30 minutes.

The machine is currently only available in Japan with 100+ locations, but Kirin is hoping to expand to 1,000 locations by the end of the year. The creation of “beer sorbet” has certainly generated buzz among the younger drinkers. A “classic drink” has been imagined into something interesting and trendy.

Will it expand to the United States? No word yet, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if this caught on!
