broVo Spirits Honors Seattle’s Sweethearts During National Brain Tumor Awareness Month

broVo Spirits has partnered with local restaurants and the Kathi Goertzen Foundation in honor of National Brain Tumor Awareness Month and Mother’s Day this May. Kathi was an icon in the Seattle media world for nearly 30 years. In 2012, Kathi lost her 14 year battle with brain tumors.

Several area restaurants are featuring cocktails using broVo’s rose geranium liqueur. A portion of the sales from each of the cocktails goes to Kathi’s foundation which was created to raise funds for research for cures and to encourage patients in their battles with brain cancers and tumors. In addition, broVo Spirits donates $1 per bottle sold of broVo Rose Geranium Liqueur to the Foundation.   Photo of the broVo Geranium courtesy of broVo Spirits.
Tini Bigs is the lead cocktail lounge for the broVo promotion.  The owner of the establishment Keith Robbins, was a childhood friend of Kathi’s. Tini Bigs created the following cocktail in honor of his childhood friendship with Kathi.

The heartwarming tween story noted here:

“Hello, I Love You” ~ $10
1 oz broVo rose geranium
1 oz Blanco tequila
1/2 oz Pimm’s Campari
1/2 oz Fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz Simple syrup
Lemon peel rose garnish

The name of the cocktail came from the fact that Keith Robbins played that Doors song for Kathi over the phone when they were in sixth grade.

Years later they were doing a fund raiser together and she surprised him by telling the crowd that story. He thought it was funny she remembered and showed how thoughtful Kathi was.
