Much-Anticipated Grand Opening of New York’s Famous “The Halal Guys”

The beloved food cart, famous on New York City streets, will welcome Pioneer Square diners in first Washington State location

Pioneer Square receives a whole new crave-worthy cuisine with the opening of The Halal Guys this August at the corner of 1st & Yesler Way. With its Grand Opening slated for August 11th from 11am-2am, Washington diners will finally be able to enjoy one of The Halal Guys’ famed “Combo Platters” of chicken or beef gyro over rice with their delicious hot sauce or legendary white sauce.

You won’t want to miss finding out what caused news-worthy, blocks-long lines in New York City for years before the founders expanded their operation across the US and internationally. Plus, at the Grand Opening, The Halal Guys will offer the first 1000 guests in line a chance to win exclusive swag for the event, five guests will win completely free Halal Guys for one week and one guest will be lucky enough to win free Halal Guys for an entire month. The Pioneer Square spot will operate on opening day until the food runs out.

The first Pacific Northwest location at 101 Yesler Way adds to the impressive list of over 200 franchised brick-and-mortar locations, currently opening and in-development worldwide. What sets The Halal Guys apart aside from their delicious recipes is their pioneering role in making American Halal Food accessible, serving up flawlessly cooked, premium, 100% Halal meats to hungry customers. Beginning from humble origins with a food cart, The Halal Guys’ founders wanted to provide accessible Halal cuisine to the cab drivers of New York City and succeeded in creating a fast-casual sensation.

The Pioneer Square location is helmed by three visionary hospitality & food entrepreneurs: Jason Wang, Shawn Tsao and Vincent Cao. The three co-Franchise The Halal Guys (Pacific Northwest Region) and are also Founding Partners at the Umai Hospitality Group. In 2012, Jason Wang and Shawn Tsao Co-Founded Caviar—the widely popular food delivery platform, acquired by Square in 2014 after raising $15mm in venture capital—bringing on Vincent Cao to lead their national sales team. Now the three look forward to the August 11th Grand Opening of the pioneering Pacific Northwest location, right in the heart of Seattle’s historic downtown.
