The Lookout will open to the public for the first time on August 8, featuring stunning views of Seattle from Smith Tower’s 22nd floor

SEATTLE – Smith Tower, a historic and world-famous Seattle landmark, will launch a summer pop-up bar on its 22nd floor rooftop on Thursday, August 8. Located at 506 Second Ave., Seattle’s first skyscraper will open The Lookout to the public for the first time, providing patrons a new rooftop destination to take in summer from above. Previously only available for private events, The Lookout will offer casual drinks in a unique indoor and outdoor space, with stunning views of Puget Sound, downtown Seattle and the nearby stadiums.

The Lookout will offer a variety of regional beers, ciders and wine, as well as light bar snacks. The cost to access the pop-up bar will be $10, which includes entry to the ground-level exhibits, a ride up in the historic Otis elevators and a $5 food and beverage credit. Additional tickets must be purchased to access the 35th floor observatory level.

Summer is such a special season here in Seattle, and what better way to celebrate than to open up our rooftop space?” said David Lennon, general manager of Smith Tower Observatory. Building off the success of our 35th floor Observatory Bar, this pop-up experience is yet another way to honor the history of this iconic building and our beautiful city, with one of the most incredible views in Seattle.

Beginning Thursday, August 8, The Lookout will be open daily from 4 p.m. to dusk for patrons 21 years and older. The pop-up will continue through the end of September, with a potential extension into October, weather permitting.

In addition to The Lookout, locals and visitors alike can enjoy Smith Tower in a variety of ways this summer. They can experience the “Legends of Smith Tower” self-guided tour, celebrating the iconic building’s history and architecture. The tour provides a fascinating and humorous introduction to Seattle through the lens of the city’s first skyscraper. Get whisked up to the top of the tower in the historic Otis elevators, and take in 360-degree views of Seattle from the exhilarating 35th floor open-air observation deck. Inside, gather at the speakeasy-inspired Observatory Bar for local libations and small bites. Weekday happy hours are offered Mondaythrough Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Throughout the year, The Lookout and the Observatory are available for booking private parties. Smith Tower offers a truly unique and historic setting perfect for receptions, special events, celebrations and one-of-a-kind gatherings of friends, family or co-workers.
