Gourmondo Co. Grows Charitable Giving Program

Gourmondo Co., one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier catering companies, has launched a new line of box lunch options for those wanting to give back just by eating lunch. The program is aimed to help support five unique Seattle based non-profit organizations making an impact in the community. Gourmondo’s Chef Tyler Hefford-Anderson created new takes on longtime fan favorites including the Roasted Turkey and Smoked Cheddar Sandwich, the Gourmondo BLT, Passionfruit Chicken and Orzo Pasta Salad, Bulgogi Marinated Beef Lettuce Wraps, and the Svaneti Spiced Steak Salad. The lunches are sold throughout their catering lines and a portion of the proceeds from every lunch goes directly to each non-profit partner. The beneficiaries include Lunchdebt.org, Big Table, Childhaven, YouthCare, and Treehouse.

“Philanthropy has been a key cornerstone of Gourmondo’s business from the start and giving back to our community is deeply rooted in Gourmondo’s values as a company,” said Gourmondo Co. CEO & Founder, Alissa Leinonen. “Gourmondo Gives is an important way we can support our community on a daily and ongoing basis. I am a fourth generation Seattleite and this city is very important to me, I believe as a local business owner I have a responsibility to help improve our community through the resources available within Gourmondo.”

Giving is an essential ingredient in Gourmondo’s recipe for running a meaningful business. Last year they donated more than $120,000 to 27 local non-profit organizations and to date have given hundreds of thousands of dollars, hundreds of in-kind box lunches, and hundreds of hours to local non-profits and charity events. Beyond the Gourmondo Gives program, the company works with and supports a number of other non-profits in the community. They employ and mentor at-risk and homeless youth, donate dinner to the young adults at YouthCare on a weekly basis, provide job opportunities in their cafes for those that graduate from the YouthCare barista program, and provide apprenticeships in their bakery as an opportunity for them to learn an additional valuable culinary skill.
