Open Form: Persian Café & Event Space Opens in Capitol Hill

Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood welcomes Open Form, a new daytime café and event venue that opened its doors on September 5. Founded by Iranian-American creative Tara Almassi, Open Form offers a serene, minimalist environment that blends Persian hospitality with contemporary design.

Located at 500 E Pike St, Open Form occupies a 2,000 sq.ft. historical space, thoughtfully reimagined to host up to 70 seated or 100 standing guests. The venue is ideal for a range of events, from creative workshops to private gatherings. Almassi, drawing inspiration from her own Brooklyn apartment, designed the space to feel like a best friend’s loft—cozy, inviting, and filled with personal touches. Sustainability is at the forefront, with reclaimed Douglas fir and locally sourced materials incorporated throughout the design.

At the heart of Open Form’s offerings is its Persian tea service, a ritual central to Iranian gatherings. Guests can enjoy a selection of teas—rose buds, cardamom, or traditional blends—paired with traditional accompaniments like saffron rock candy, dates, and Saffron Brittle. This service is available through a day pass, which includes a reserved seat, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a welcoming atmosphere conducive to creativity and connection.

Open Form’s Daytime Café operates Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 AM to 6 PM. For more information or to reserve a day pass, visit openform.space.
