Healeo Stands Up for LGBT Rights in North Carolina

SEATTLE, WA – Healeo, Seattle’s “superfood” nutrition bar and organic café, is making a stand in the fight for same-sex marriage equality by donating 100 percent of all profits from next Monday, May 14 through Wednesday, May 16 to Youth OUTright in North Carolina, in an effort to aid in providing youth of all gender and sexual identities a community with safe and inclusive environments.

Earlier this week, voters in North Carolina passed a constitutional amendment banning the practice of same-sex marriage, an initiative that doesn’t sit well with Healeo owner, Justin Brotman.  “We are proud help the citizens of North Carolina, who as of yesterday live in a state where discrimination is now part of their state constitution,” explains Brotman. “It’s unfortunate and frustrating to be taking steps backwards when it comes to matters of equality, especially this day in age.”

Brotman, who has been vocally supportive of Seattle’s LGBT community through Healeo’s efforts, will be matching the profits from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week to aid Youth OUTright in its mission to empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth to be confident and vital members of the Western North Carolina community.
