Big Mario’s Heads to Frelard, Free Slices

Doors open on April 22, 2017.

In a few days, Mike McConnell, David Meinert, and Jason Lajuenesse will be opening its third location of Big Mario’s Pizza, in the former space of Bourbon and Bones in Frelard. To celebrate its grand opening next Saturday, April 22, starting at 4 p.m. The first 100 customers will be rewarded with free slices.

How it all started…

In the winter of 1964, Mario Vellotti emigrated from Naples, Italy to live and work on Mulberry Street in New York City. Mario made his early living tossing pizza and cooking in some of New York’s most notorious kitchens—Angelo’s, Casa Bella on Mulberry Street and Nanni Al Valletto on 59th Street. Later Mario joined his brother and uncle in the family business, opening their world famous pizzerias in all five Burroughs, including Sal’s on Broome Street, Bensonhurst’s J & V and the original Patricia’s in the Bronx. Big Mario is in Seattle now. Enjoy! “Tanks for coming, God Bless America!” – Mario

The first Big Mario’s location was opened in 2010 on Capitol Hill by business owners Mike McConnell, Jason Lajeunesse, and David Meinert. The second in Queen Anne, and now Frelard will be getting a taste of Big Mario’s.
