Lark to Host Chef Nora Pouillon

Book Launch Celebration and Signing

Chef John Sundstrom is looking forward to hosting chef Nora Pouillon on Tuesday, May 12. The renowned chef of her namesake restaurant, Nora’s, in Washington DC will be joining Sundstrom for an evening of conversation and celebration of the publication of her memoir, My Organic Life. The event begins at 6pm and cost is $45/person, which includes wine and appetizers—the book itself is not included in the price of the event, though it will be available for purchase and signing that evening.

The book tells the story of Pouillon’s journey from a farm in the Austrian Alps to Washington DC in the 1960s, where she was greeted with a food culture in a sorry state, menus full of unseasonal vegetables and inhumanely raised meats. She made it her mission to bring better food to the American table, first as a cooking teacher then as a restaurateur and culinary leader. She opened her eponymous restaurant in 1979, and it became the first organically certified restaurant in the US in 1999. The restaurant has hosted everyone from Jimmy Carter to the Obamas, and Pouillon’s wonderful memoir takes readers through the years at the restaurant and beyond. On the night of the event, she’ll read from her new book, tell stories from her life as a pioneer in the organic food movement, and have a discussion with chef Sundstrom.

Join these two wonderful chefs for an evening of great food and conversation! Call Lark at 206.323.5275 to reserve a spot for this special event, which will be held in the new private event space below the restaurant, Off the Record.
