12th Man Packs a Punch with broVo Spirits

It’s been said that the 12th Man causes earthquakes at the CLINK when the Hawks are full on Beast Mode! As the 49ers come into town this weekend for the NFC championship, Jayson Cottam, bartender at The Backdoor at Roxy’s in Seattle, has created the perfect 12th Man cocktail that packs a punch, crafted using his own broVo Amaro, suitably named No.12!

When Mhairi Voelsgen of broVo Spirits invited Cottam, to craft a new Amaro for its Project 2013 Release, he created his batch using unusual ingredients- muira pauna, yohimbe, and shatavari paired with ginger, lavender, damiana and orange peel. It is sweetened with agave nectar and uses Gentian root as the bittering agent, which makes the perfect base for his cocktail The 12th Man Punch.

Available at the Backdoor for $12, you can also make it at home:

12th Man Punch1 ½ oz. Old Overholt Rye
¾ oz. broVo Amaro #12
1oz lemon juice
½ oz. honey
2 dashes angostura bitters

Shake all ingredients over ice. Double strain and top with bubbles and then scream “GO HAWKS!”
