Tarsan i Jane Patio to Open This Thursday June 9th

Chef Perfecte Rocher and his partner/fiancée, Alia Zaine, owners of the recently opened Fremont restaurant, Tarsan i Jane (in the former Tray Kitchen location), are stoking the fire, literally, as they prepare the patio for summer feasting starting Thursday, June 9. In true Valencian style, all Rocher’s dishes will be cooked on an expansive, open-air, wood-fired grill intended to impart the perfect hint of smoky char to the food.

The Tarsan i Jane patio will open Thursday, June emily (weather permitting) with a focus on Rocher’s passion: house made pork sausages, including Llangonissa Blanca (white sausage with fava bean, cumin, brandy and herbs), Llangonissa Roja (fresh sausage similar to chorizo without the fermentation or curing) and Botifarra (blood sausage with chickpeas). Raw oysters and small plates including almonds, anchovies and jamon will complement. Classically Valencian small-batch cocktails, served in glasses or a porró, a traditional glass wine pitcher that resembles a cross between a wine bottle and a watering can that holds three-quarter litre, will include Kalimotxo, the iconic Basque drink served during the Running of the Bulls (red wine topped off with Coca-Cola), Aigua de Valencia (orange juice, Cava, vodka, Cointreau and gin) and Clareta (Spanish lager with Fanta Limón, similar to a Shandy).

The patio will be open Thursday-Saturday on a walk-in basis only (no reservations). The patio is intended to be a fun, energetic and spontaneous space as a complement to the more serious intention in the restaurant’s interior. While there will be tables, guests are encouraged to stand and mingle as they would at a backyard BBQ. With an eye to the environment, all menu items will be served on compostable plates.
